Snow Angels
We finally got some more serious snow/ice last night. After a nice dusting yesterday afternoon, it sleeted on and off all night and we woke up to beautiful, white world. The sound of the sleet on the windows was a little eerie, and I'll blame that for the disturbed sleeping in our household. By morning, Josephine and Madeleine were wedged into our bed. Michael became so confused that he turned on the television for the morning news at 4 a.m. not realizing that we had several hours of 'sleep' ahead of us.
While work and school were delayed, they were not cancelled so we did have to head downtown. First though, we got in a little snow time. Madeleine suited herself up in her new pink snow pants (which she calls her snowsuit), and I bundled Josephine up in multiple layers and topped it with Shelby's old black/white leopard print snowsuit. Josie wasn't too sure about being so bundled up, but she loved riding in the sled. She lay back and laughed and laughed as Madeleine and I pulled her. The snow was several inches deep and pretty crunchy so we ended up at the sledding hill. As the first ones there, we had a nice slick surface for sledding - and with the ice, our sled never broke through the hard surface. We made a number of runs down the hill in different combinations. Josie seems to have her sister's love of adventure as she loved the downhill sledding too.
The girls and I eventually headed home to get ready to go downtown, but Madeleine met up with neighbor kids headed for the hill. Michael and I let her take off with them while we loaded the car. When we picked her up, she and a friend had just wiped out (much to her glee) and she was laughing and staggering uphill. She got into the car for the ride to school and let her friends borrow her sled to continue riding - very generous.
